I finally got my diploma in the mail yesterday. I will never understand why it takes educational institutions to mail the diploma after six months of graduation. Maybe they verify the courses and make sure everything as been satisfied, but still, six months? I got my Associates in Accounting in June 2006 and I received my diploma yesterday, i.e. December 2006. Anyways, I feel I have an Associates Degree now as I have a thick paper with embossed seal to prove it :)

One more thing, now I become the first person ever in my family to get an Associates Degree or any kind of a degree from North America. I have 23 cousins from my Dad’s side and 12 cousins from my Mom’s side.

From my Dad’s side, only 4 of my cousins have Bachelors. Two of them out of the four have Masters also.

My Mom’s side, everyone is yonger than me, I am the oldest kid. So it remains to be seen how far my mom’s side of the family goes in their pursuit of education.

There is something about the each one of us from my Dad’s side of the family. Anyone born after 1980 has got their Bachelors. There are around 7 cousins of mine who were born in 1990 and 2000 so it remains to be seen there too. So I guess importance of education was felt by the generation born in 1980s.

Most of my cousins who never graduated got swayed into family business or bought some kind of a business themselves as they were not that into school and stuff.

So to sum up my education:

High School
Associates
Bachelors
Masters
