I am currently looking for a part time job in any accounting related field and have been doing so for the past one week. Even though I have spent all my life on the internet, job hunting on the internet is first time for me. I make sure that I check out Hotjobs and BAJobs every day first thing in the morning. I don’t like monster, its over rated and useless. At least people reply to you if you apply using Hotjobs or BAJobs (bay area jobs).

There are obviously lot of accounting jobs but they all require atl east a Bachelors degree which I am currently working towards but don’t have it at the moment. I have an Associates degree in Accounting at the moment with no real experience in any accounting related field.

Before I go any further, let me mention something, the worst place to look for a job is to goto craigslist. It is a very popular website for lot of things like looking for apartments etc but when it comes to jobs, it is a bad bad place. It is filled with scammers, especially in job related categories so avoid that website at any cost.

I am leaning more towards getting a job as a teller at some bank because it will save me from commute as there are lots of banks in Berkeley near the UC campus. Haven’t had any luck so far….

There are quite a few new job search sites but I think they don’t really make any sense because they are more focused towards the social networking aspect of job search rather than the quality of job listings. Most of them are meta job search sites like Jobster and SimplyHired. They show you results from Hotjobs and other websites, what difference does it make? I will never understand why these websites are popular….

Maybe I am not aware of some good job site, I doubt it, but it is possible… if so… then tell me…
