In late 2006, because of the immense popularity of MySpace and Facebook, proxies became very popular. A Proxy is a website/service used to unblock a website that is blocked by your server administrator or the firewall at your work. Schools, libraries, and workplaces all started blocking myspace and other social networking website and suddenly there was a demand of a product that was never ever popular or user friendly before.

I didn’t get into proxy business early. Every trend has its start, peak and end. I entered when it peaked and that helped me make quite a bit of money from 16 or so proxy websites that I initially launched. To be honest, at that time, money was the motivation as I had money problems and was looking to make an extra $500/month using my websites and proxies gave me that edge. I didn’t make $500/month with proxies but I started making $200+ every month using only AdSense.

Like everything, proxies started getting burned. Almost every webmaster out there had few proxies up his/her sleeves and the internet became saturated with proxies. I started off with a huge sell off of my popular proxies and sold them for pennies on the dollar because I wanted to get over with it and because I needed money.

Now, I still have few domain names left from, one of them is a PR3. I plan on selling it on DP someday but don’t know when. Last but not least, I would like to thank Mubin Ahmed for providing me with the information that I used to make the most out of my proxies.

So you ask what’s next? I don’t know yet but I know one thing, I am not following the money this time… I will let it follow me….

(Mubin Ahmed makes a living off his 100+ websites and has lot of knowledge about affiliate programs and internet marketing. He is maybe the only Pakistani webmaster out there making a living off the internet.)
