Alia Ansari, 37, and a motrher of six was gunned down in Fremont, California on October 19th 2006. Manuel David Urango was found guilty March 10th of first-degree murder of Alia Ansari. She was walking her 3 year old daughter to school when she was shot dead.

Fremont has a big afghan community and this random act of violence was treated like it was a “Hate Crime” because Alia Ansari was wearing a Hijab. This conclusion was reached when there was no motive found behind the shooting.

No evidence was produced to support those claims in the court. This was completely a random act of violence where someone who was vulnerable suffered and was victimized. Her killer will be facing 35 years to life in prison but as he intends to appeal, we will find out what happens.
