There is a career fair coming up on 11th April at San Francisco State University, I might attend this one as I realy have to get an accounting related job ASAP. Here are the details:

Timings: Noon-3:00 p.m
Date: 04/11/2008
Open to only SFSU students and alumni (sorry everyone else)
Professional attire is required
Bring extra resumes and be ready to interview on the spot
Employers from companies, businesses, non-profits and government agencies will be recruiting for internships and full-time positions during this one-day event.

Early admission is between 11am - Noon. To get an early admission pass you must attend SFSU career center workshop that teaches you how to work a job fair. I went to one of these workshops last year and it was very helpful. They can critique your resume, give you tips on networking with recruiters etc.

I had been looking for a job for almost two months and finally have one now. This semester I am taking a break from school and I was looking for a full time job. I interviewed at 3 places, two of the jobs were directly related to accounting and I really wanted to get my foot in the door but hard luck.

I interviewed at a Target store two weeks ago for the Cashier position and was offered the job same day pending a background check and drug test. It’s been 3 days since I started and so far its been really good. Co-workers are friendly, people are nice, and the management is very helpful and committed.

Now, I really hope that I will get enough time for this blog and my other websites. I obviously won’t be working 24/7 but blogging and managing an entire network of websites is not as easy as you might think. I have few more websites and projects in line and I am excited about all of them.

I went to San Francisco wax museum this week and it was a fairly good experience. I was expecting a little more REAL looking wax statues but was disappointed. I have heard that the wax museum in London is the best one; I want to visit that one day. I took some pictures at the wax museum, here they are:

Even though I had been working on AccountingBLOCK for a while, today I announce its launch. Accounting is very near and dear to my heart as I am pursuing my Bachelors in Accounting. I always wanted to start a website related to accounting and finally I decided that the best way I can contribute to the field of accounting is to have a discussion forum where accountants, non-accountants and wanna be accountants can all come and talk, discuss and solve issues/problems related to accounting.

Accounting is a very complex area of business. Every once in a while, someone has a question pertaining to accounting for which an answer might not be readily available. Even if it is available, people don’t really know where to look for it. The idea behind AccountingBLOCK is to have a community of people who deal with accounting on day to day basis and can solve simple and/or complex issues.

There are other accounting forums out there but AccountingBLOCK’s competitive advantage over other websites is that it has something for everyone. Accountants can talk about hardcore accounting issues, students can find out more about accounting, solve homework problems and get access to internship opportunities, and non-accountants can seek help and also help other people out with issues related to accounting. You don’t get that on any other accounting forum!

Because you are reading about AccountingBLOCK on my blog, let me give you an inside scoop. I will very soon launch a program on AccountingBLOCK where members with most credits (you get credits by posting, referring others etc) will be made moderators. You ask, so what? Well, how about getting paid to do something you like? Moderators will be able to earn money by being active on the forums. Payments will be made on monthly basis through PayPal. I will obviously post details later on but don’t wait until then, start posting !
